Patrick Barrera / Photographer
About
I photograph Los Angeles at walking pace.
City Grain LA is an ongoing study of Downtown Los Angeles: its architecture, transit, afternoon shadows, and ordinary street life.
I’m Patrick Barrera, a self-taught photographer working from Downtown. My photographs begin with long walks and few expectations. I’m interested in the visual order that appears for a second and then disappears—a reflection aligning with a face, a person crossing a field of hard light, or a small gesture giving scale to a building.
The archive collects finished photographs. Field Notes records what I’m learning while making them. The course turns that working process into practical assignments for photographers who want to become more attentive in public space.
